According to the box, they’re caramel waffle cookies filled with salted caramel ice cream.
That sounds almost too delicious. Is that even legal?
The Stroopwafel, a staple in the Netherlands, is quickly gaining popularity around the world--and it’s not hard to see why: It’s essentially a crispy waffle cookie, split in half and then glued back together with caramel syrup filling. The stiff dough is made from flour, butter, brown sugar, yeast, milk, and eggs. The warm filling, meanwhile, is made from syrup, brown sugar, butter, and cinnamon.
