Reese's Is Rolling Out Two New Big Cups Stuffed With Pieces of Pretzels and Potato Chips
Because everything about 2020 is extra salty.
Saying 2020 has been a wild year is an understatement of epic proportion. We've isolated for weeks on end, learned to wear masks every time we leave our homes, and changed everything about how we eat and shop. Then, there are the escalating climate crises and — oh yeah, how could we forget? — a presidential election on the horizon. So if 2020 has left you feeling a little bit salty, you're not the only one: Reese's is now a bit more salty, too.
A few days ago, the Reese's Twitter account turned extra salty, revealing that 2020 was making the candy persona angry and aggravated. And today, the peanut butter cup candy brand revealed just how salty with the reveal of two new candies — Reese's Big Cups with Pretzels and Reese's Big Cups with Chips.
"Finally, a product that represents how we're all feeling in 2020," read a statement from Reese's. "We're keeping it together on the outside, but we're salty on the inside."
Salty, indeed. But maybe you'll be a little less punchy when you find out how soon you'll be able to enjoy the first of the two releases.
The Reese's Big Cups with Pretzels, which is described as "bigger, saltier, and packed with pretzels," will be available as a one-cup standard size or a two-cup king size in November. A bag of Reese's Peanut Butter Cups with Pretzels Miniatures will join the lineup in January 2021. Both the Big Cups and the Miniatures will become permanent members of the Reese's collection.
But because there's no indication we'll be over how salty 2020 has made us all by spring 2021, Reese's also revealed they're releasing Big Cups with Chips in March 2021. Unlike the pretzel version, however, these will be available for a limited time.
"Let's face it, we're all feeling a little bit salty this year," said Ian Norton, Reese's senior director. "In true Reese's fashion, we channeled our feelings into sweet and salty deliciousness with new Reese's Big Cups with Pretzels."
