The Royal Family says the cake will be traditional, but “with a modern feel.”
Sure, the likelihood of Princess Eugenie ever usurping the British throne is pretty slim. But that doesn’t mean her wedding cake won’t be royally spectacular.
Princess Eugenie of York will marry Jack Brooksbank on October 12. Here’s everything we know about the cake:
The red velvet and chocolate cake will feel contemporary, yet classic. It will incorporate the rich colours of autumn in its design, Buckingham Palace announced, and will be covered in detailed sugar work.
The couple has asked London-based cake designer Sophie Cabot to prepare the cake.
Cabot first caught the princess’ eye through her involvement with The Duke of York’s Pitch@Palace programme, where she supplied specially decorated bespoke biscuits.
Her background is in costume design, so expect the cake to have an artistic flair.
“I am incredibly excited to be given this wonderful opportunity to create such a special and unique cake,” Cabot said in a release. “It has been lovely working with Princess Eugenie and Jack and I really hope they enjoy the cake on the day.”
The baker particularly enjoys creating sugar flowers—and she’s INCREDIBLE. Just look at this Instagram post from May:
We’re sure the wedding cake will be a stunner. If it looks anything like Cabot’s previous designs, it certainly won’t disappoint.
