More international chips, please!

At this point in human history, you’d think we’ve pretty much reached the natural limit in terms of chip flavors by now. You’d be very much mistaken.

For the latest example of chip flavors that seem so strange that you can’t help but try, I give you these surprising “Tangy Pickle” Doritos spotted by Instagram food finder @TheImpulsiveBuy.

Sold in an appropriately green bag that for some reason sports a lightning bolt where the “i” in the word pickle should be, this dill-icious looking Dorito seems like it’s simply bursting with a briny flavor that you’ll either love or hate. I would imagine whether or not you think pickles belong in a sandwich will affect your reaction to these chips.

Though we Americans might be unfamiliar with the pickle chip, @TheImpulsiveBuy points out that they’re far more common outside the US than they are here. But in today’s increasingly interconnected world, I suppose Dorito parent company Frito-Lay decided Americans are ready for the pickle chip after all. At this rate, maybe America will even get its own ketchup-flavored chips before the end 2021.

While, as the caption notes, we can now “enjoy the buildup of pickle-flavored Doritos dust on [our] fingers,” one commenter came up with an idea that I can only hope comes to life: the Tangy Pickle Doritos Locos Taco. I can’t imagine how that would work taste-wise, but it’s definitely a pretty powerful and mind-blowing concept to consider.

So far, it looks like you can find this briny bag of chips at Dollar General. Presumably they’ll be on shelves at most places that stock Doritos soon enough, inspiring a vital referendum on the pickle chip and its place in American culture.
