How to Make a Turmeric Latte
There's this wonderful creation circulating around the foodie world lately and it is a lovely warm mug of a drink called golden milk. I've been seeing it everywhere. If you've been on Pinterest or on the internet in general lately typing "food" into your search bar then you probably have too. One of my favorite food bloggers even made an ice cream with it! If you're like me, you probably wanted to know what the deal was with this recipe and how this drink was getting it's supremely yellow hue, so I'm happy to tell you the secret: turmeric.
If you've never heard of this insanely awesome spice, get the facts here, but the bottom line is that turmeric is known as the golden spice of India, and it imparts a lot of great health benefits along with that unmistakable yellow hue. Turmeric has long been touted as an anti-inflammatory and has been shown to improve stomach ailments and digestion. By tossing just one teaspoon into your daily diet, you can reap the health benefits that turmeric has to offer, and of course, one way to do that is by stirring that golden spice into your morning latte.
Turmeric Latte
Enter the Turmeric Latte. First of all, I want to throw in a disclaimer that however you take your latte is fine. A lot of people want to throw in the towel when they see that a recipe does or doesn't have coffee, or does or doesn't have tea. "How can it be a latte if it doesn't have coffee?" Even without coffee, this recipe is still awesomely delicious. I made this version without tea or coffee just to show that it can taste wonderful without those things. However, if adding in a splash of espresso or black tea is part of your morning ritual, that's just fine.
Ground turmeric is easy to find at health food stores.
