There goes your plan to eat healthier in the new year

For whatever reason, I associate Hershey’s Kisses with the holidays. Though they aren’t explicitly a Christmas-y candy, their appearance in red and green wrappers at the homes of relatives and atop those cookies sure makes it feel that way. So (at least for me) it only makes sense that we’re getting news of a potential Hershey’s Kisses cereal amidst a frenzy of holiday-themed food launches.

You heard that right: at some point in the near future, General Mills will be blessing us with a cereal that tosses the concept of healthy eating entirely out the window in favor of serving up some candy for breakfast. Based on the box art posted by Instagram account @Markie_devo,  these “chocolate flavored corn puffs with other natural flavors” look just like the unwrappable treat we all know and love, minus the bits of foil that somehow get stuck on.

According to the caption of his post, it sounds like this sweet cereal would be dropping sometime in early 2020, timed perfectly to derail your New Year’s resolution to stop eating junk food disguised as cereal.

This isn’t the first time that Hershey’s has lent its candy’s likeness to a cereal. The Pennsylvania-based candy company has collaborated with General Mills on a Hershey’s Cookies and Creme Bar in the past. This, however, marks the first time that the aesthetics of a Hershey’s candy have played such a central role in a bowl of cereal.

So if you want a new, novel way to turn your regular milk into chocolate milk, Hershey’s Kisses cereal should be just the ticket. For an added bit of fun, maybe you can pour them out of the box into a candy dish and see how people react when they see it out on your coffee table.
