Host a Shark Week Viewing Party
One of the most anticipated weeks of the summer is finally here: Shark Week! For this year’s shark-a-thon, we’re planning a seafood feeding frenzy. We’ve put together one fishy menu guaranteed to help you host the perfect Shark Week party. Shall we dive in?
Shark Bites:
Crab Dip: Every party needs a delicious dip to get the party started, so we suggest serving up a rich and super-creamy crab dip.
Salmon Ceviche: For a light and fresh appetizer, try this delicious ceviche featuring fresh, raw salmon cured in lime juices and tossed in a tomato mixture. Serve with tostada shells.
Fried Calamari: Sharks often enjoy a bite of squid. If your guests aren’t afraid to taste some tentacles, grab some calamari and get frying!
The Main Fish:
Grilled Shrimp Tacos: These simple shrimp tacos make a perfect party entrée that can be ready in just 45 minutes.
Crab Cake Sliders: Sliders are easy to prepare and to serve, and these crab cake sliders fit perfectly with your fishy theme. For a no-fuss meal, set out the ingredients and let guests assemble their own sandwiches just the way they like them!
Swordfish Skewers with Cilantro-Mint Pesto: These flavorful skewers are easy to grill and great for serving a crowd. If you prefer, substitute the swordfish for your favorite whitefish.
Sharky Sweets:
Sand Cake: Prepare this kid-friendly “sand” cake is by crushing vanilla cookies and combining the crumbs with a pudding mixture.
For another dessert option, bake a batch of basic cupcakes, coat them in blue icing, and add a shark fin to top them off! Not only will these taste great, but they will also make for fin-tastic decorations.
Shark Sippers:
Blue Margarita: We suggest serving these ocean-colored cocktails in fish bowl glasses and garnishing them with shark gummies.
For a kid-friendly drink, tint lemon lime soda (or other clear drink) with a drop or two of blue food dye. Don’t forget the shark gummies!
We're sure your shark-obsessed guests will enjoy taking a bite out of these dishes, but don’t be afraid to get creative and bring your own personal flair to the party. You can use a cookie cutter to create shark-shaped gelatin desserts, cookies, or finger sandwiches. For fishy décor, use blue tablecloths scattered with cheesy baked fish crackers. Carve a watermelon in the shape of a shark and cover it with gummy fish for an intimidating centerpiece and a fruity snack. The ideas are endless!
