We're going all the way back to 1985 today, so grab your slap bracelets, Cabbage Patch dolls, and stone-washed jeans; it's going to be a delicious ride.

I've known many a friend who has claimed to make THE best oatmeal cookies. Mathematics and logic tell me that can't be true, not everyone can make THE cookies that everyone else talks about. If that were the case, I'd just buy my cookies from them and call it a day. Instead, we have four dozen types found in the cookie aisle of my grocery store alone.

I did a little digging to find out what makes a recipe memorable, and honestly, it's that "can't put my finger on it" secret-ingredient quality that nails it, and this cookie recipe has just that:

What's the secret ingredient, you ask? Oven-toasted rice cereal.

That's right, the same breakfast cereal that you enjoyed as a kid is back. It found its way into cheese straws, giving them the airy, crispy bite they needed, and now it's doing the same for ooey-gooey oatmeal raisin cookies.
