New Year's in Paris Brunch

Everyone loves brunch–savory eggs, smoky bacon, and something sweet covered with syrup makes for a great menu for any number of occasions! The inspiration from this party plan came from Paris–the City of Lights. The French really know how to celebrate the New Year so we've borrowed some French flair for this holiday brunch.

Make New Use of Votives

Make use of your holiday lights and decorations–put shiny holiday ornaments into clear vases. Since Paris is the City of Lights, anything shiny and sparkling is perfect. Votive candles arranged on an inexpensive square mirror from the craft store adds that wow factor you want for your table.

If you want something really bold, cut a few branches from your bare trees and spray paint them white or silver. Once dry, cover with tiny white lights and hang them or arrange them on your table.

Set the Mood with the Music

Putting your playlist together can be one of the most fun parts of planning the party! I start the playlist while I'm prepping to get in a party mood–and when my guests arrive, the music takes them to another place! Make a playlist that includes plenty of French café music.

Use Store-Bought Items in the Menu

Stick with simple, elegant choices. And like the French, get some help from the market with baskets of fresh bakery items like baguettes and croissants. To finish the menu, add a simple cheese board with a wheel of brie plus bowls of fresh fruit, and chocolates.

Serve Champagne

You'll need Champagne or something sparkling and festive–use whatever fits your taste and budget. Your food and beverages can pull double duty when you make them a part of your decorations, too. For example, use a pretty bowl to chill the bubbly and display beautiful glasses on a silver tray. Add a few candles and the result is elegant, shimmery, and sparkling–perfect for this party.

Stick with simple, elegant choices and choose easy recipes with a nod to French cuisine. French cheeses, bread, and champagne are all must-have items and can be purchased at your local grocery store or market.
