We're on the cusp of a momentous occasion: The sixth season of Game of Thrones premieres on April 24th.

So celebrate this glorious event, and maybe throw together a menu for your viewing party, by eating your way through Westeros, the main continent the stories take place. The nine regions (and the area beyond them) all have a cuisine as distinct as the characters written by George R.R. Martin.

The North

Cold weather requires hearty food. Root vegetables, thick cuts of meat, black bread, and plenty of ale are how most of those living in the North make it through each year. This stick-to-your-ribs stew will make even Winter bearable .

Vale of Arryn

An area equally full of rocky mountains and fertile valleys, this tart combines the best of both terrains: goat cheese from the animals occupying the mountains and vegetables from the lush lowlands.

The Riverlands

With citizens known as "rivermen" it's hard to imagine those living in the Riverlands eating much besides things of the fishy variety.

The Westerlands

The capital, Casterly Rock, is the seat of the Lannisters. Those known for having filled pockets usually opt for rich food too. Cream, eggs, and bacon come together for a decadent meal.

Iron Islands

The seven islands that make up the Iron Islands are barely-fertile rocks. What they lack in vegetables is made up for by abundant seafood and drinks.

The Crownlands

The aptly named Crownlands contains Westeros' capital, King's Landing. From the Iron Throne, the ruling house enjoys the spoils of being in charge, from hunting parties to indulgent royal feasts.

The Stormlands

The wet climate due to constant bad weather makes the aptly named Stormlands an ideal growing place for watercress. That paired with scallops from the seashores makes an ideal warm salad.

The Reach

The Reach is one of the most fertile parts of Westeros, with large demand for its crops to supply less prosperous regions. Their greatest export though is wine, due to the island Abor's warm vineyards that produce the majority of the kingdom's preferred beverage. Throw it along with a few spices into a pot, and you'll soon be having a good time.

Inspired by Spain, this spicy shrimp represents the fiery people of Dorne, whose distinct customs set them apart from the rest of Westeros.

Beyond the Wall

The land of the Wildlings is harsh and unforgiving. In a landscape of ice, they mostly rely on hunting game and foraging hearty plants to get by. Wild mushrooms are a great find, and any extras should be preserved for the coming Winter.
