Showcase your red, white, and blue pride by hosting a star-studded 4th of July party this weekend. Whether at the park, lake, beach or in the comfort of your own backyard, you can impress your guests with these simple yet stunning decorating tips and recipe ideas.

I attended a July 4th party earlier this week hosted by Birmingham residents, Meredith and Gary Rehm, and was inspired by their creativity. Meredith carried the red, white, and blue theme throughout the party with her decorations, food, drinks, flowers, and even clothing.

Here are some tips to achieve Meredith's look:

*Assemble red, white, and blue flower arrangements by purchasing flowers from a local wholesale florist then displaying them on appetizer tables, dining tables, and in small votives.

*Take advantage of the season's best produce by serving dips with fresh veggies like carrots, summer squash, snap peas, and bell peppers.

*Set the bar by featuring a signature cocktail in a clear glass drink dispenser in the center of the table. Use a large one like Meredith's or fill multiple pitchers with your favorite red cocktail. Add shimmery firework straws, colorful ice buckets, and a flag tablecloth to carry out the theme.

*Have fun with dessert!

Serve star-shaped ice cream sandwiches for an easy and impressive make-ahead dessert. Simply purchase sugar cookies from the bakery, make sandwiches, cut the sandwiches into stars using a cookie cutter, and then roll in red, white, and blue sprinkles.

Pick up cupcakes from the bakery or make your own then decorate with sprinkles and flag toothpicks.

White chocolate covered strawberries share a toothpick with blueberries for a festive bite-sized dessert.

Happy 4th of July!
