Ever start scrolling through Instagram and get the sense that every day must be some kind of  "National __[insert random food]__ Day " ? Well, nice observation skills, because every day basically is some kind of National food holiday. Do they hold any real meaning? Eh, only as much as you want to assign to them... sometimes it's just nice to have an excuse to eat a hunk of hazelnut cake on a Wednesday. Foodimentary keeps a running list of all such holidays on their site, which you can check out here.

Lucky for those of us who are down to celebrate food just for the sake of celebrating food,  each day in June delivers a new festive occasion. Just to make sure you're ready, should a celebration mood strike, we've collected our best recipes to honor each holiday this month. Wanna join in our festive feasting? Simply click any image to find the recipe. And with that, cheers to . . .

June 1: National Hazelnut Cake Day

This show-stopping dessert, made with crisp chocolate-hazelnut meringue and whipped cream, is simple to make but slicing it can be tricky. The solution: Freeze the cake, cut it with a serrated knife and let it return to room temperature before serving.

June 2: National Rocky Road Ice Cream Day

Rocky Road S'mores Ice Cream Sandwiches

Whoever invented this holiday, thank you. Get a double dose of chocolate and marshmallow by layering traditional s'mores with a scoop of rocky road ice cream for the perfect summertime ice cream treat.

June 3: National Egg Day

I can't think of a better way to celebration National Egg Day than with the most popular (not to mention easiest) breakfast casserole MyRecipes has to offer.

Simply stir cooked sausage together with prepared hash-browns and shredded cheddar cheese. Pour into a casserole dish and whisk together eggs, milk, and salt in a separate bowl. Pour the egg mixture over the sausage and potatoes, and you're ready to cook.

June 4: National Frozen Yogurt Day

No-Cook Fro-Yo

This super-easy recipe for frozen yogurt uses only 4 ingredients and doesn't require any cooking. Also it's only 133 calories a serving. I don't hate it.

June 5: National Gingerbread Day

Gingerbread Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting

Seems like an odd time of the year to celebrate National Gingerbread Day but, hey, we didn't make the rules. Plus, I'll gladly jump on any opportunity to make (and devour) this decadent Gingerbread Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting.

June 6: National Applesauce Cake Day

Applesauce Spice Cake

Applesauce gets an upgrade from the childhood snack in this cinnamon spiced cake. To prepare in advance: Bake the cake and let it cool. Set aside at room temperature for up to 24 hours. Cover with foil and warm in a 250° F oven for 30 minutes.

June 7: National Chocolate Ice Cream Day

Double Chocolate Ice Cream

A combination of cocoa powder and melted chocolate makes for a rich, ultra-chocolatey dessert. For you chocolate ice cream fanatics (talking to you, dad!), today is your day to shine.

June 8: Jelly-Filled Doughnut Day

Marionberry Jam Doughnuts (Sufganiyot)

Israelis enjoy jelly-filled donuts, called soufganiyot (soof-GHAHN-ee-yote), during Hanukkah, but thanks to this national holiday, we now have another time in the year to indulge in some jelly-stuffed perfection. Though these doughnuts are amazing when eaten warm, they're also good fried ahead.

June 9: National Strawberry-Rhubarb Pie Day

Strawberry Rhubarb Crumble Bars

Why make a pie when you can have a delicious Strawberry-Rhubarb Crumble Bar instead?

Be careful when removing the baked dish from the foil-lined pan--you don't want your dish to turn into a crumbly mess before you cut the bars into individual squares.

June 10: National Iced Tea Day

Lemonade Iced Tea

This refreshing drink combines two summer favorites--lemonade and iced tea--and is just the right vibe to sip on all summer long.

June 11: National German Chocolate Cake Day

I'm not kidding when I say this is the best cake I've ever eaten. Seriously, I wrote a whole section of a recent blog post about it. With over 24,000 shares on our site and more than 30, 5-star reviews, this indulgent chocolate cake with heavenly Coconut-Pecan Frosting is the real deal.

June 12: National Peanut Butter Cookie Day

Not only are these indulgent cookies only 6 ingredients, but they happen to be gluten-free too. That's a win-win in my book.

June 13: National Cucumber Day

Cucumber-Feta Bites

Cucumbers are a wonderful alternative to crackers during snack time. For these cucumber bites, we top them off with a little cream cheese, nonfat Greek yogurt, feta cheese, and walnuts for a protein-packed crunch.

June 14: National Strawberry Shortcake Day

This may just become your new, go-to shortcake recipe. Make this classic dessert for a refreshing treat during peak strawberry season.

June 15: World Gin Day

In this fruit salad, sugar, lime, and gin soften and preserve berries while extracting their natural juices to become a syrupy sauce.

June 16: National Fudge Day

White Chocolate Cookies 'n' Cream Fudge

If you love Oreos, you're going to love this dessert. These beloved chocolate sandwich cookies stud a vanilla fudge landscape in this deliciously indulgent treat that just requires 6 ingredients.

June 17: National Apple Strudel Day

Individual Apple Strudels

You can make these Individual Apple Strudels several hours ahead--just tent them loosely with foil and leave at room temperature. Put in a 400° oven for a few minutes to warm and crisp just before serving.

June 18: National Cherry Tart Day

Our Best Gluten-Free Desserts

What's better than a cherry tart? This cherry tart with almond streusel topping. Use fresh or frozen cherries to make the deep red-hued, sweet-tart filling for this gluten-free tart. The crunchy, crumbly almond streusel really sends it over the top.

June 18: National Sushi Day

Korean Sushi Rolls with Walnut-Edamame Crumble

These playful rolls have a delicious edamame-and-walnut filling, and, unlike other sushi rolls, they can be served warm.

June 19: National Dry Martini Day

The martini has become one of the best-known mixed alcoholic drinks, so a dry martini definitely needs its own day of celebration. Shaken or stirred?

June 20: National Vanilla Milkshake Day

Icy Vanilla-Rum Malted Milkshake

Dazzle guests with this made-to-order icy beverage that couldn't be easier. Use bagged, small-piece ice over large, hard chunks. For kids, nix the liquor.

Unlike deep-fried onion rings, these are cooked in a shallow pan with a smaller amount of oil. Be sure to check that the underside of each onion is nicely browned before you flip.

June 23: National Pecan Sandy Day

Pecan Sandies

I promise, I'm not making these days up. These melt-in-your-mouth cookies are great as holiday treats, but apparently they're perfect to enjoy and celebrate on June 23 now too.

June 24: National Pralines Day

Pecan pralines are one of the favorite confections of the South and are a fun snack to make using your Dutch oven.

June 27: National Indian Pudding Day

Indian Pudding

This New England classic is thickened with cornmeal. The colonists loved puddings of all types, and because wheat flour was scarce, cornmeal was an easy substitute. When chilled, this pudding firms to the consistency of polenta.

June 27: National Orange Blossom Day

Corn Flour and Orange Blossom Chiffon Cake

If cornbread were transformed into a sweet, moist, fluffy golden cake, this would be it. Top it with whipped cream and crème fraîche and curls of candied orange zest.
