Having an aunt who is battling breast cancer now and losing my father to cancer 6 years ago, supporting the fight against cancer is something that is near and dear to my heart. So when I heard about KitchenAid's idea to combine cooking with supporting the cause, I had to share the details!

On the weekend of July 16-18, join the 1,000 Cooks for the Cure event by hosting a party at home (we're already doing that this summer, right!?). Instead of asking guests to bring items for the party, encourage them to bring donations to help support Susan G. Komen. It's that's simple!

OK, now that you're on board, it's time to plan next month's weekend party! First things first: you've got to have good food for your fab friends who are coming and donating to the cause. Here's some ideas for pink-themed parties. And you could always take advantage of the beautiful summer weather with a backyard cookout or pool party!

Host a "Drink Pink" cocktail hour or serve one of these as the signature drink at your party: Sparkling Punch, Cosmopolitan Slushy, Sea Breeze Mimosas, or The Pink Daiquiri.

Of course, there are always ways to support Susan G. Komen before and after your party! Here are some of my favorite Gifts That Give Back: RSVP Kitchen Goggles ($19.99), KitchenAid Pink Stand Mixer ($299.99), Pink Ribbon Strapless Apron ($52.95), Fox Run Baking Set ($14.99).

Have fun with 1,000 Cooks for the Cure, and let us know how your party turned out!
