Our Best Cookie Cakes
A cookie cake is the perfect, party-pleasing dessert for any occasion. Whether you’re celebrating a birthday, team party, graduation, or another holiday, you can’t go wrong with a tasty cookie cake. And trust us, these recipes are so easy, you’ll never order a store-baked cookie cake again.
To make this triple-layer Chocolate Chip Cookie Cake, you’ll need Southern Living’s recipe for All-Time Favorite Chocolate Chip Cookies, chocolate frosting, parchment paper, three 8-inch round cake pans, and a cake decorating piping bag. First, prepare the cookie dough, spread the dough into each cake pan, and bake it for 18 to 20 minutes. While the cookies bake, you can whip up the chocolate frosting. This chocolate frosting recipe calls for softened butter, unsweetened cocoa, whipping cream, salt, and powdered sugar. Beat the butter, cocoa, whipping cream, and salt with an electric mixer and gradually add in the powdered sugar until the mixture becomes creamy. To save time, you can skip the homemade frosting and just purchase store-bought chocolate frosting. After the cookies cool completely, pipe the chocolate frosting between each cookie layer and decorate the top layer for a creative touch!
Our other favorite homemade cookie cake is this deep-dish style Giant Cookie-in-a-Pan. For this recipe, you’ll need a cast iron skillet instead of a cake pan. While the oven preheats, use an electric mixer to beat the sugars, butter, vanilla, and eggs until smooth. To finish the dough, add the flour, baking soda, and salt and stir in the chocolate chips. Then, coat the skillet with cooking spray and pat the cookie dough evenly into the skillet. Decorate the top with your choice of M&M’s or sprinkles before baking the cookie cake for about 30 minutes. After it cools, slice, serve, and enjoy!
For a cookie cake with a little flavor twist, try All You’s Choco-Cherry-Nut Cookie Pizza. The recipe mixes chocolate chips, dried cherries, and chopped walnuts into the batter for added flavor. To bake, simply spread the cookie dough into a small circle on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 30 minutes. These cookie cakes are sure to be a hit at your next party.
