How to Make Pancakes from Scratch
There’s nothing better than indulging in a tall stack of pancakes on a lazy Saturday morning. Whether you drizzle them with maple syrup, pair them with fruit, or top them with chocolate chips, you can never go wrong with Classic Buttermilk Pancakes.
Not only are these Classic Buttermilk Pancakes super easy to make from scratch, but you also probably have all 7 ingredients on hand. The recipe calls for flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, fat-free buttermilk, butter, and one large egg.
To prepare the batter, whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in one bowl, and mix buttermilk, melted butter, and the egg in another bowl. Next, combine the buttermilk and flour mixture into one bowl and stir until its smooth.
Now, for the fun part! I prefer using a griddle to cook pancakes because there’s more room to cook more pancakes at once, but you can also use a nonstick skillet. Once the griddle or skillet is hot, pour about ¼ cup of batter to make each pancake. Of course, if you want bigger or smaller pancakes, simply adjust the amount of batter you pour per pancake. Wait until the tops of the pancakes are covered with bubbles and the edges look fairly cooked, then flip! Check out the recipe demo below.
Growing up I loved waking up to help my dad whip up a batch (or two) of pancakes.
