How to Make Homemade Pop-Tarts
Calling all Pop-Tart lovers! Today, we’re making your favorite breakfast pastries from scratch. And, trust us, these Homemade Toaster Pastries are more than “crazy good” — they’re insanely delicious.
If you’re looking for a nostalgic snack or something special to make with your kids, this is the recipe for you. It’s quick, easy, and fun! The recipe calls for just 6 ingredients: strawberry preserves, uncooked pie crusts, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, milk, and, of course, sprinkles! If you’re not a fan of strawberry Pop-Tarts, you can substitute your favorite fruit preserves for the pastry filling.
Let’s get started! While the oven preheats, spread out the pie crusts and cut each into two even rectangles. Unless you decide to double (or triple) the recipe, you should have eight rectangles in total. Next, spread about one tablespoon of fruit preserves onto four of the dough rectangles and top with the remaining dough rectangle. To prevent the preserves from seeping out while baking, use a fork to crimp the edges and poke holes into the top of the pastries. Bake the pastries for 8 to 10 minutes. While they bake, you can prepare the icing by combining the milk, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Once the pastries have cooled, drizzle them with icing, top them with sprinkles, and enjoy!
