Sweet chocolate is not the same as semi-sweet chocolate. Sweet chocolate has more sugar. In fact, to substitute semi-sweet chocolate, for every ouince of chocolate, you will also need to add 1/2 tablespoon of sugar.

Sweet baking chocolate, often sold as "German's sweet chocolate" was invented by Samuel German, who thought he would save bakers a step by combining sugar with the chocolate. Contrary to popular belief, the chocolate, and the cake for which it is named, originated in the United States, not Germany.
