Start with this basic combination:  2 tsp chili powder, ¼ tsp oregano, ¼ tsp cumin, 1/8 tsp garlic powder,  and 1/8 tsp each of onion powder, cayenne and salt. You can certainly adjust the heat—more or less cayenne—but you may also want to fiddle around with the other spices to get it exactly the way you want it.
