Ginger Colada Green Smoothie: "A Piña Colada with a Gingery Kick"
Ginger Colada Green Smoothie: "A Piña Colada with a Gingery Kick" Recipe
Experience the sweet and spicy flavors of the Caribbean in ten minutes flat, even if you’re stuck at your desk. Loaded with nutritious ingredients like fresh ginger, kale, spinach, and hemp seeds, this clean, green smoothie is the perfect way to jumpstart your morning. Dana Shultz, author of Minimalist Baker’s Everyday Cooking, makes this refresher almost every day. She calls it a ginger colada because it reminds her of a piña colada with a gingery kick.
Ginger Colada Green Smoothie
Notes:
For spinach and kale, Shultz likes to buy hers pre-washed and bagged and stored in the freezer. That way it stays fresh and is always available when she’s craving a smoothie. It also helps keep the mixture colder and slightly creamier.

How to Make an Iced Coffee Avocado Smoothie a.k.a. Es Alpuket
We know. You’re probably thinking, WTF, avocado and coffee are two things that should never go together. But they absolutely should—especially when it comes to coffee avocado smoothies. Mixing avocado and coffee is not a new idea. Es alpuket, which directly translates to “ice avocado," is a delicacy sold by street vendors in Indonesia. The coffee avocado drink is made of avocado, coffee, sweetened condensed milk, coconut milk, and ice, all blended together. Feel free to use different types of milk like whole, soy, or almond instead of coconut when you make it at home.
Your brain might tell you that you’re drinking avocado, but your tastebuds will beg to differ. Although the coffee avocado smoothie looks mean and extremely green, the avocado isn’t overpowering and is actually masked by the coffee. The fruit lends a creamy texture to the drink and forms the perfect consistency to resemble a thick milkshake, or a frappe. Toss all the ingredients together in a blender and drink up.
