While some people see pickle juice as the necessary remnants resulting from a job well done on eating a jar’s worth of pickles, that leftover brine can be surprisingly valuable. OK, not like get-rich-quick-scheme valuable, but still useful in a culinary way. As we wrote about last year, pickle juice can be mixed in with bloody marys, butter, or Hollandaise sauce, used in chicken or potato recipes, or even given another chance to pickle again by simply adding vegetables or eggs. If this news is giving you a pickle-juice epiphany, good: You can even buy straight pickle juice by the gallon—absolutely no pesky pickles included.

The Texas-based pickle specialist Best Maid, a pickle institution since 1926, sells plenty of your typical pickle products. (Try saying that five times fast.) You’ve got your sweet, sour, hot, dill, sliced, bread-n-butter, kosher and Polish pickles. You’ve got three kinds of relish. You’ve even got jalapeños and dressing. And then, sure enough, the company also sells a one gallon jug of straight "delicious" (their word) Dill pickle juice. “Great for snow cones or drinking right out of the bottle,” Best Maid proclaims. Snow cones?! We’ll hold off on testing the pickle juice snow cones until at least May, thank you very much.

Though Best Maid sells its Dill juice by the gallon on its own site for just $7.99 plus shipping, those in more desperate need of a pickle-juice fix can also score a gallon through Amazon Prime. The price is a bit higher but the shipping is free. And Amazon customers seem to be pretty satisfied: The pickle juice scores a 4.4 out of 5 stars rating. True, you do find some complainers. “This is a lot more salty and [has] a very strong over powering vinegar flavor,” wrote one negative reviewer. “I'll go back to buying a jar of pickles and just drink that juice.” OK, but what are you going to do with all those pickles then, huh? You’re back to the same problem you started with!

Of course, a gallon of pickle juice comes with its own issues. For straight pickle juice sippers, that gallon container isn’t going to fit in your car cup holder—and even if it did, it would be a real pain to drink while you’re stopped at red lights. In that case, you could always give Pickle Juice Sport a try. Granted, it doesn’t come from the makers of the “#1 Pickle in Texas,” but it is described as “the preferred sports drink by serious athletes, athletic trainers, coaches and teams.” And more importantly, it comes in convenient eight-ounce bottles.
