This Homemade Peppermint Mocha Will Fuel Your Holiday Season
In a perfect world, a daily indulgence in a limited-edition Starbucks holiday drink would be ideal. But when you’re trying to save cash for the impending gift-giving season, a DIY peppermint mocha recipe will have to do. By making your own, you will be able to cut back on your coffee spending habits while savoring the best flavors of winter. And while a homemade peppermint mocha won’t boast the new Starbucks green cup, you’ll be able to put your favorite mug to good use. The best part about this drink is that you don’t need fancy equipment or special ingredients. And you definitely do not need to be a barista. This recipe calls for simple techniques and just a few minutes of your time. There’s also a good chance that you already have all of the ingredients in your kitchen. And aside from being able to adjust the minty flavor and coffee strength, you can easily make a non-dairy version. Coconut, soy, or almond milk are all delicious alternatives that won't tack on another 50 cents per cup. Every penny counts, people.
To top it off, you’ll be able to skip the long lines that plague every Starbucks during rush hour. What’s not to love? Here’s how to make your own.
Yields: 16 ounces
Prep Time: 3 minutes

- 1 cup milk
- 1 tablespoon cocoa powder or hot chocolate mix

Pour the mixture into a large mug.
Add hot freshly-brewed coffee and stir.
