It's the fall drink you didn't know you needed
You’ve got your pumpkin spice lattes, and your nitro lattes, and now you can order a pumpkin nitro latte in a highly Instagrammable shade of orange. The ultimate trendy morning beverage mashup is available at The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf. The national chain introduced nitro cold brew to its menu in July and announced last week that customers can order a Pumpkin Nitro Latte off their secret menu. The brand said that baristas can sub in either almond milk or soy milk for a vegan version of the drink, which pairs their signature nitro cold brew with pumpkin spice. No word yet on what exactly gives it that shockingly accurate pumpkin color.
The pumpkin nitro latte joins a bevy of other pumpkin-flavored menu items at The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, including a traditional pumpkin latte, pumpkin chai tea latte, and pumpkin spice coffee. The of-the-moment beverage (see also Breckenridge Brewery’s nitrogen-charged Pumpkin Spice Latte Beer) is an autumnal surprise to us all, including one Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf barista who commented on the The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf's Facebook page requesting the standard operating procedure for the drink. That's how secret their secret menu is. Let's hope that your local barista knows what's up.
While it may be a blatant attempt to capitalize on coffee trends both new and old, a pumpkin nitro latte would probably taste really, really good. After all, loving the flavor of pumpkin and cinnamon doesn’t make you a bad person, which is to say nothing of the delightfully smooth texture of a nitro latte. It may in fact be the ideal drink for anyone who has decided that the traditional PSL is just so last year.
