Sweet cream, cinnamon, and cold brew
Usually when you think of the holiday season at Starbucks, images of red holiday cups filled with steaming hot Gingerbread Lattes and Peppermint Mochas dance through your mind. But this holiday season, Starbucks is changing it up a bit and offering its first cold coffee holiday beverage. Starbucks new holiday drink is the Spiced Sweet Cream Nariño 70 Cold Brew, and unlike most classic holiday beverages meant to warm you up, this one is meant to be refreshing. The drink starts with Starbucks' cold brew, which is made by steeping a 70-30 combination of Colombia Nariño and African coffee beans in cool water for 20 hours. That cold brew is then "spiced with flavors of cinnamon, anise, nutmeg, and vanilla," according to a press release sent to Extra Crispy, and finished with house-made sweet cream.
Starbucks has been serving cold brew in its stores since March 2016, and it's been experimenting with adding sweet cream for a while, like with the Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Brew. And since Starbucks is known for going all out for the holidays, it makes sense that they would combine one of this year's biggest coffee trends with signature holiday flavors and spices, all of which would be at home in a pumpkin pie.
The Spiced Sweet Cream Nariño 70 Cold Brew will be available to Starbucks Rewards members starting today, November 3, and it join the full holiday drink lineup at stores throughout the United States and Canada later this month, so that you too can feel like you're celebrating the holidays somewhere warm, maybe even tropical, even though winter is coming.
