The 'Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat' author and star cozies up with a bowl of warm happiness—and power
It should come as a surprise to no one that Samin Nosrat can make oatmeal a cause for celebration. The author of the justifiably lauded Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat and host of the Netflix show by the same name is in joyful control in the kitchen, and her rendition of the hot cereal is the spiritual and sensory opposite of the grim glop so many of us have choked down over the years.
It doesn't require a lot of tedious labor either. Nosrat opts for quick-cooking oats and stirs in candylike Medjool dates, cinnamon, Maldon salt, ground flax seeds, frozen blueberries, and almond butter until it's all just short of "gloopy," then finishes the dish with half and half and Early Bird granola. The result is a power-packed breakfast that's got, as Nosrat says, "a whole other level of oatmeal deliciousness."
