That's a party favor we can all get behind
Awards shows are known for many things—fashion, memes, sometimes jokes I guess. But one thing that seems pretty clear is that in all the excitementt and stress, there's rarely enough time for the glitzy and famous to actually eat enough to fuel them through many hours of suspense and speeches. Even when dinner is served, as it is at the Golden Globes, it can be insufficient for the long show ahead. Which is why Melissa McCarthy, a genius, hit upon the idea of bringing in her own concessions. Specifically, she and her husband Ben Falcone smuggled 40 ham sandwiches into the ceremony and distributed them to hungry attendees.
"I've been handing them out to everyone," McCarthy told Variety. "Next year, I'm bringing hot dogs."
They were widely appreciated, it sounds like. McCarthy left with only two remaining sandwiches in her stash. And she got a shout-out from Olivia Colman during Colman's acceptance speech. “How did she get them in here?” Jessica Chastain mused to Variety. “But it’s a good idea because by the time you get into the ballroom dinner has already been served, and you’re always so hungry.”
