The nectar of the frat bros makes a good mimosa

Ah, Jungle Juice, nectar of the frat bros. The drink that starts with Kool-Aid powder and Everclear (but if, of course, infinitely riffable), isn’t necessarily something you’d want to make for your grandmother. It is, however, an excellent base for a dirtbag mimosa.

Raid your liquor cabinet. Grab the grain-alcohol—or vodka, if that’s all you have—and some fruity schnapps, then go to the fridge and crack open a beer. Dump all the liquors into a large vessel until you’re tired of pouring. Mix in some Kool-Aid and Tang powders for flavor and color. Next up, add a bunch of fruit to the bowl. For health. Ladle the Jungle Juice into cups, and top with some bubbly. Maybe save the really good stuff for another day.

Jungle Juice Mimosas

Yield: Many mimosas

Active Prep Time: 10 minutes

Total TIme: 10 minutes, plus soaking time

 

Ingredients

Everclear (in an 18-ounce square Solo cup, measured to the top of the "S")

Peach schnapps (same, but to the top of the "L")

1/4 cup Kool-Aid powdered mix (we used Tropical Punch flavor)

1/4 cup Tang powder

Fresh cut fruit (we used strawberries, pineapples, and grapefruit)

Cheap sparkling wine (we used Korbel)

1-2 tallboys Budweiser

 

Directions

1. Mix together the Everclear, schnapps, 1 can Budweiser, and 1/4 cup each Kool-Aid and Tang powders. Stir thoroughly, making sure that the drink mixes are thoroughly dissolved, the fruit is coated and that you are spiritually onboard with your impending fate.

2. Add fruit and allow to soak for several hours, ideally overnight. There's still time to abandon mission and/or get your affairs in order.

3. Add more beer, schnapps, or Everclear to taste. Pour into drinking vessel, making sure to include some of the alcohol-soaked fruit. Top with sparkling wine. Accept your fate.
