EC: How to Peel a Hard-Boiled Egg in 5 Seconds
Credit: Video and Photos by Alex Tepper

Boiling eggs is pretty straight-forward and super easy with our boiled-egg timeline. Peeling hard-boiled eggs, however, can be tedious and time-consuming. But there's a trick for peeling a boiled egg in five seconds or less, without a spoon. You only need a mason jar with a lid and some water. Place a hard-boiled egg in a mason jar, add one to two inches of water, and cover tightly. Shake and swirl the jar vigorously for a few seconds. BOOM BADA BING! The shell will break loose in big pieces, and you’re left with a perfectly peeled hard-boiled egg. Feel free to peel two or more eggs at once; just make sure you have a sealable container large enough to contain a few eggs and two inches of water.
