When you’re a serious breakfast eater, planning out your morning meals is one of the most important parts of your Sunday routine. In fact, it’s basically a way of life. And with so many people embracing the wondrous world of Trader Joe’s, it’s worth bringing them together by looking at how Trader Joe’s can transform your breakfast. After all, this novelty grocery store chain is the top of its class for selling affordable gourmet-level health foods. It's no wonder that it has a fan base as big as the almighty avocado toast.

To test the waters of the store's true breakfast potential, I set out to create a week’s worth of breakfasts under 20 bucks. And if that’s not enough, each breakfast would feed two people. This is ideal if you live with a roommate (that you actually like) or a significant other (that you hopefully like.) It also works if you have a hearty appetite or like to eat breakfast for dinner. Regardless of your eating style and home life, it’s totally possible to complete this mission with Trader Joe's best breakfast foods for less than $20. With the right approach, you can use the same ingredients throughout the week while still enjoying enough variation. Trust me on this one.

For this particular week, I bought the following items for exactly $19.50.

  • Tortilla chips
  • Shredded cheese
  • Frozen toasted waffles
  • Avocados (3)
  • Eggs (12)
  • Chunky salsa
  • Sliced ham

Ready to take on the week? Here we go.

Monday: Ham & Cheese Quiche Cups

These quiche cups are the perfect grab-and-go breakfasts—especially if you make them on Sunday night. To start, beat 3 to 4 eggs in a bowl. Mix in ½ cup cheese and chopped ham. Add some salsa for good measure. Divide in a lightly-greased muffin tin and bake at 350°F at 20 minutes.

Tuesday: Waffle Ham, Egg, and Cheese Sandwiches

For a tasty spin on the conventional breakfast sandwich, use waffles as your "bread." Simply add layers of ham, cheese, and 1 to 2 scrambled eggs in between two pieces of toasted waffles.

Wednesday: Salsa Omelets

Now that it's the middle of the week, opt for an easy breakfast that requires little to no thought. Luckily, salsa and cheese double as simple and delicious omelet fillings.

Thursday: Baked Avocado Eggs

With the weekend so close (yet so far), fueling up on protein and healthy fats will help you power through. To make this clever breakfast, slice two avocados in half and remove the pits. Beat two eggs and divide among the avocado halves. Add a generous sprinkling of cheese and bake at 425°F for 15 minutes.

Friday: Breakfast Nachos

Welcome the weekend by baking tortilla chips, cheese, salsa, and avocado chunks on a lightly-greased baking sheet at 350°F for 20 minutes. Top with a sunny-side egg and dig in. What's up, Friday.
