Hershey's Kisses Are Broken and Christmas Is Ruined
A widespread manufacturing issue has caused the candy to lose its iconic point
December is a time for sweets and going hard on baking. One of the treasured favorites of the holiday season is Hershey's Kisses, what with their long-running commercial with Kisses as a bell choir playing "We Wish You A Merry Christmas." But this year, something is amiss. Something has gone, very, very wrong with Hershey's Kisses.
A widespread problem with the manufacturing of the Kisses has lead to many of the candies arriving with their tips broken off. The issue first came to light on December 9 in a Facebook group called Wedding Cookie Table. From there, it caught fire—dozens of people were buying the candy, only to find the very top sheared off. Business Insider bought a bag and found every single tip was broken. What gives? What Grinch-like behavior is this?
Hershey's told Business Insider that they're looking into the issue, but there's been no clear culprit in the kiss-pocalypse thus far. Just many, many complaints on Twitter:
Do they taste the same? Well, yeah, but what's a Kiss cookie with the top sheared off? A sloppy cookie, that's what. May 2019 be a kinder year for us all.
