Opening on October 20 in Brooklyn
If you're interested in starting your morning with a free cup of Cuban coffee, and you happen to live in New York City, you're in luck. The Cafe Bustelo Pop-Up Cafe Experience is coming to Brooklyn, opening tomorrow, October 20 at 8 a.m. Perks include complimentary Cuban-style coffees, like a cortadito, a cafecito, or a café con leche, all made using Cafe Bustelo's signature Cuban-style espresso. There's also regular iced and hot brewed coffee, if you're not an espresso person, and if you're early enough, there's a chance you'll get some pastries as well. Complimentary wi-fi and phone charging stations mean that you could easily spend all day at this pop-up. And if you're not a morning person, don't worry. The pop-up cafe will be open daily until 7 p.m.
Cafe Bustelo actually has long roots in New York City. The company was created in East Harlem, and the coffee roaster's founders opened the first Cafe Bustelo cafe in 1931, on 5th Avenue in Manhattan, between 113th and 114th Streets. And this pop-up isn't the first time Cafe Bustelo has made a return to New York City. This time last year, they opened up a pop-up cafe on the Bowery with similar amenities. The band Jukebox the Ghost performed in that space, but no word if there's going to be any musical performances at this year's pop-up.
If you don't live in New York City, don't worry; Cafe Bustelo occasionally opens these pop-ups across the country. Just last month, they went to Chicago, and they've opened a pop-up in Los Angeles, too.
But if you are in Brooklyn and want to get that sweet, free cup of coffee, go to 101 Bedford Avenue in Williamsburg. (It's the regular location of the beloved coffee shop The Bean.) The Cafe Bustelo Pop-Up Cafe will be open from Thursday, October 20 to Monday, October 24, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. everyday.
