For the foodie who has everything
Dolce & Gabbana is famous for high-end fashion and fancy perfumes, but this holiday season, the brand has also decided to get into (of all things) the pasta game. Of course, the connection between the Italian brand and a famed Italian food adds up, but fashion houses aren’t typically in the business of making food. According to a press release, Dolce & Gabbana is collaborating with a more than 100-year-old Italian pasta company, Pastificio Di Martino, on a luxury line of premium priced pasta. The fancy noodles will come in a collectable tin, and with an apron designed by Dolce & Gabbana. Just don’t spill on it.
The tins will, of course, come only in a very limited quantity. According to the press release, only 5,000 tins have been created at all, and only 1,000 will be available in the United States. Fashion and pasta-loving customers looking for a nice gift for friends and family (or let’s face it: themselves!) can purchase the pasta/ tin/ apron combo beginning November 15. The pastas will be sold in limited-edition packaging designed by Dolce & Gabbana, and Bloomberg reports that the designs feature visuals from all over Italy. The tins will be sold both online at dimartinodolcegabbana.com and in select stores (New Yorkers can hit up Buon Italia in Chelsea, according to the press release).
Given the brands behind the collaboration, it should come as no great shock that this pasta, tin, and apron combo won’t be cheap. According to Bloomberg, customers should expect to pay about $110 for the whole kit and caboodle. Though given that suits from Dolce & Gabbana retail for a few grand, this is quite a steal in comparison, and certainly much more edible.
