There are dozens of different breakfast Kickstarter projects that promise to turn your wildest brunch fantasies into devices you can actually own. Now, as is typical with crowdfunding sites, some of the breakfast projects on Kickstarter are a little too far-fetched or poorly planned to become reality. But some proposed projects are so mind-blowing in their creativity or simplicity, you can’t help but wonder how on earth you ever managed to eat breakfast or enjoy brunch without them. Those are the projects on Kickstarter that are the most rewarding to support, the ones that get you so excited that you can’t help but brag to all your friends about this amazing device and how it will change their lives, too.
The hard part is being patient, because even after you’ve thrown money into the pile and the funding goal has been reached, you’ll usually still have to wait for the thing itself. But it will come eventually, arriving one glorious day, and your breakfast will never be the same again.
So from pre-mixed artisanal cocktails to perfect pancake art, here are five breakfast Kickstarter projects you never knew you needed and now that you do, you can’t wait for them to finally be yours.
Portable Coffee Maker
This portable coffee maker, called the Oomph, can be used anywhere. It’s hand-powered, holds up to 13 ounces of hot coffee, and keeps it warm with an air barrier of insulation. Plus, it takes less than two minutes to brew a full mug. This project blew through its original goal on Kickstarter, raising over $80,000, and is currently available for pre-order so you’ll have to wait a bit. But it’ll certainly help make your morning commute easier.
Capsule Cocktail Machine
The Bartesian is a capsule cocktail machine. Fill up the reservoirs with liquor, insert a pod, press a button, and get a perfectly measured and mixed cocktail, like a margarita or a cosmo. It’s an ideal companion for a lazy, boozy brunch at home, and simple enough that guests can figure out how to mix their own drinks. Though the project on Kickstarter has been fully funded, the machine itself is still only available for pre-order.
Atlanta Cat Cafe
Like any good Kickstarter, this one has a pun for a name and supports a good cause. Catlanta Cafe would partner with PAWS Atlanta, a no-kill shelter in Georgia, to fill the cafe with adoptable cats. You can sip on your coffee while playing with cats, and even take one home if you fall in love. It sounds like the best brunch activity ever, really.
Pancakebot is a pancake printer, allowing you to turn your drawing into a pancake. Scan your image or design into an accompanying computer program, trace over the image, and then Pancakebot will print out your design onto a hot griddle. It’s the easiest form of pancake art out there and totally makes for a fun brunch trick.
Kent Steinberg currently has no backers for this project, which was eventually cancelled, but the undergraduate at Northwestern University has big dreams for Morning Milk, a caffeine-infused milk, and really, it’s more of a surprise that no one else has had this idea yet. According to the product’s description, this caffeine-infused milk, “allows not only for milk drinkers to energize their day, but enables consumers to add more caffeine to their other drinks that they mix with milk: coffee, tea, etc.” It’s the ultimate morning pick-me-up, and it's a shame it'll never see the light of day.
