Whenever I am abstaining, whether it is because I am the designated driver or just taking a break for a night or two, I have always turned to bitters and soda for my chosen beverage. I love to make my own, especially with these Strongwater bitters which have fantastic flavors like Cherry Bourbon and Lavender Mountain Wildflower. But sometimes I do not have the bandwidth to experiment; when that happens, I turn to Hella Bitters and Soda, a canned pre-mixed version in five different flavors for whatever mood I am in.

Really missing your nightcap? There are a lot of folks making wonderful non-alcoholic spirits with all the flavor and none of buzz. We are gin folks over here, and have been really loving Monday Zero Alcohol Gin, which we use both as-is in a virgin G&T, or sometimes to just cut back a bit on the alcohol in mixed drinks like negronis.

If you are taking a break from booze, it doesn’t mean you want your mocktails to have basic ice. If you love a craft cube or sphere, Tovalo has your back with easy-to-use molds to make your own clear slow-melting ice. If you love a crushed ice in your drinks for more of a slushy nugget ice that is extra crunchable? Depending on how much you tend to spend on booze, taking a break for the month might just leave you enough extra scratch to invest in a countertop nugget ice maker. Mine has been in constant use since I got it, and while it will certainly make Dryuary better, it is really a year-round gamechanger for all of your beverage needs
