I don't have a killer sweet tooth. I can pass on cake and pie, no problem, and wave away offers of ice cream without a hint of regret. But brownies, oh brownies. You are my downfall.


I've always loved this top-rated brownie recipe from Southern Living, but decided to get creative after reading several friends rave about a new recipe floating around the web.

It starts with boxed brownie mix, but instead of adding water, you add cookies 'n cream ice cream and hot fudge sauce. If that's not a winning substitution, I don't know what is! Oh, and did I forget to mention the Oreos? Hold onto your hats, friends, and get your milk glasses ready. This one is a doozy.

1 box brownie mix

Eggs and oil (as called for in the brownie mix)

1/2 cup Cookies N Cream Ice Cream

1/4 cup hot fudge topping

Preheat oven to 350 degrees and spray a baking dish (8X8) with cooking spray. Combine brownie mix with eggs and oil, as directed on the back of hte brownie box, omitting the called-for water. Mix well. Add ice cream and hot fudge and stir until combined.

Pour half the brownie batter in the prepared pan, then cover that layer with Oreo cookies. Top with the remaining brownie batter and bake for about 40 mintues, or as directed on the back of the brownie box.

NOTE: These brownies come out super fudgy, so make sure not to overbake them in an effort to get a clean toothpick test. Top with more ice cream and enjoy!
