It takes a lot for us to get excited about food holidays, but today is definitely one of those days. International Pancake Day, brought to us all by our beloved IHOP, is a day where we can treat ourselves to a stack of free pancakes and donate to one of the many charities that IHOP is partnered with. Whether you're heading out to your local IHOP to take up this deal or you're planning on celebrating at home with your favorite flapjack recipe, there's no reason why you should go without a sweet, fluffy treat today.
While you may have woken up this morning thinking that today was just another run-of-the-mill Tuesday, we’re here to tell you that there’s more at stake on this special day, March 7th. That’s because today is, in fact, #InternationalPancakeDay, and to say that we’re excited is quite the understatement.
Unlike most arbitrary food holidays, this joyous celebration actually has a purpose. IHOP, everybody’s favorite pancake house, offers a free stack of pancakes to all customers today, and with this deal, they hope that you will donate to one of the many charities with which they are partnered. So, if your schedule allows, we’re all in favor of you heading to your nearest location, ordering you a fancy short stack (because you’re worth it), and providing a contribution to any of the charities, which include Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, as well as Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.
However, if a trip to the International House of Pancakes is just not in today’s deck of cards, don’t worry. There’s plenty of delicious ways that you can get in on the flapjack fun all in the comfort of your home kitchen. Whether you’re sticking to your old and trusted buttermilk pancakes, or you’re looking for something a little more festive, like red velvet, sour cream-blueberry, or oreo, we are fully supportive of your homemade pancake endeavors. While we’re getting all hyped up on all the breakfast sweets, you might as well make a batch of our favorite Pop Tart pancakes, too.
Basically, today is a great day because it either entails an obligatory trip to your local IHOP, or because everyone around you is talking about pancakes, so you have no other option but to get to work in your kitchen and make a hefty stack of your own. We didn’t know we needed an excuse to get excited about pancakes, but we want to extend our thanks and gratitude to IHOP today for encouraging us to do so. Now excuse us, but we’ve got some golden brown beauties to attend to.
