Caramel is delicious. The simple combination of sugar and water, cooked until it has a golden brown color, is great by itself and also the basis for all sorts of interesting dishes. Add vinegar and you've got a gastrique, in addition to lots of other fancy sauces. Add butter and cream and you've got a caramel sauce that's a perfect ice cream topping.
One thing I love about fall is how there seems to be a caramel drizzle on everything. To me, there can never be enough drippy caramel on top of cakes, ice cream, or foamy lattes. While this Double-Caramel Turtle Cake would be delicious and impressive for any occasion, such as a birthday, family get-togethers, or just because, some people have even made it for Christmas day!
I don't know about you, but I am so ready for caramel apple everything. It's officially fall, and it's actually starting to feel like it. It's definitely my favorite time of the year and I love all the flavors and combinations that come with it.
One of my favorite fall flavor combinations: caramel apple. I think there are at least eight caramel-apple-themed recipes on my to-bake list. This Caramel Apple Coffee Cake is at the top!
