Fast, Heart-Smart Meals
Tips for quick heart-healthy meals:
1. Make only one main dish and supplement with frozen vegetables, bagged salads, and store-bought breads.
2. Stock your pantry with heart-healthy staples like pasta, lean meat, and low-sodium seasonings so you'll always have something on hand.
3. Overlap cooking steps and multi-task. For example, if you're having pasta, start the water first and do the other prep-work while the pasta boils.
4. Add easy, low-fat cooking techniques to your repertoire: stir-frying, steaming, broiling, and microwaving.
