Zesty Tomato Sauce

Yield 1 1/4 cups


  • 1 (16-ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 2 garlic cloves, pressed
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried crushed red pepper (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh basil

How to Make It

  1. Cook first 4 ingredients and, if desired, crushed red pepper in a heavy saucepan over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, until reduced to 1 1/4 cups (about 10 minutes). Stir in basil.
