A simple take on the traditional Monday night meal in New Orleans. Made with Zatarain’s Red Beans and Rice Mix, this can be served as a meatless meal or as a side to pork or chicken.


  • 3 cups water
  • 1 package ZATARAIN'S® Red Beans and Rice
  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine

How to Make It

  1. Mix water, Rice Mix and butter in 2-quart saucepan until well blended. Bring to boil. Reduce heat to low. Cover. Simmer 25 minutes or until rice is tender. Stir occasionally to prevent rice and beans from sticking.

  2. Remove from heat. Let stand 5 minutes. Fluff with fork before serving.
