- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 3/4 cup whole wheat flour
- 2/3 cup cornmeal
- 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 3 tablespoons shortening, melted
- Butter or margarine
How to Make It
Combine egg, milk, and 2 tablespoons honey; beat well. Combine flour, cornmeal, and baking powder; add to egg mixture, mixing well. Add melted shortening; mix batter well.
Pour into a greased 8-inch square baking pan. Bake at 425° for 20 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cut into 2- inch squares; serve with butter and honey.
