Warm Brie With Ginger-Citrus Glaze

    This turned out to be a highlight of my Thanksgiving Day appetizers, and we are having it again on New Years. Surprisingly delicious for a simple recipe. I made the topping before my guests came, so all I had to do was top my cheese and warm it when my guests arrived. Very nice with a different twist on a whole brie.

    I made this as an appetizer for Thanksgiving - it was really excellent. The ginger added a little spice to contrast with the creamy brie. I probably needed to heat the brie more, but we all loved this. It's great on apples. It was very easy to make. I found the ginger preserves at Bloom.

    I've fixed this for two holiday parties this week and it was a huge hit. Unfortunately I could not find ginger preserves in my area so bought low sugar orange marmalade and added 1/2 tsp ground ginger to the mix. I really do not like altering someone's popular recipe, I feel I miss out! But until I find ginger preserves, the alteration was certainly acceptable to our foodie crowd. The 2nd time I made it I used the microwave to soften the brie and it worked great, about 1 minute at 70% and that was with 1000 watt micro. Just keep and eye on it.
