How to Make It

Step 1

Beat butter at medium speed with an electric mixer until creamy; gradually add sugar, beating well. Add eggs and flavorings, beating until blended.

Step 2

Combine flour, soda, and salt; add to butter mixture, mixing well. Stir in walnuts.

Step 3

Divide dough into 10 portions; shape each portion into a 10-inch roll on wax paper. Cover and freeze 8 hours.

Step 4

Cut each roll into 1/4-inch-thick slices, and place on lightly greased baking sheets.

Step 5

Bake at 350° for 8 minutes or until lightly browned. Transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
