I made this recipe one night for dinner. The onion was overpowering. My husband and I struggled through a bowl a piece. My husband (who eats just about everything) wouldn't eat the leftovers.

Flavorful & hearty; great leftover for lunches too. We used fresh veggies - whatever was on hand (potatoes, carrots, frozen corn and onions, garlic) and put them in during the last hour or so of cooking. We both loved this one and will make again.

We loved this recipe! we're on a cleanse & changed a few things because of that.. no flour on the meat, used all fresh veggies & veggie broth instead. turned out great, one of the first meals we've really enjoyed on the cleanse so far! will make again!!

My whole family loves this easy, hearty stew. The steak is so tender and the spices add a little zing.

I was horribly disappointed in this recipe. It was incredibly bland, even with the addition of spices after it finished cooking. No one in our household - kids or adults - enjoyed this dish. I ended up throwing a lot of it out because I knew no one would eat it for leftovers. What a waste of ingredients...

I have made this recipe with both beef and chicken (without flour). I added my own spices instead of the spice mix (thyme, bay, hot sauce, etc...) and also cooked it on the stove top since I think slow cookers cook the taste out of most foods. We enjoyed it served over some steamed rice. Re: prior reviewer - Not sure what is a "turn off" about gumbo vegetables - okra, corn, red peppers, onions, and celery - it makes a nice mix of veggies and the okra thickens it into a stew.

Used Luzianne seasoning which added the perfect flavor and just a little zing. Boyfriend loved it!
