A microwave might heat rice quickly, but it doesn’t add any flavor. Devote a few extra minutes to making breakfast fried rice in the morning, and last night’s leftovers will be totally transformed. If dishwashing seems like too much of a chore that early in the day, we’ve got great news for you. This breakfast fried rice recipe comes together in just one skillet and you can eat it right out of the pan. OK, you’ll also need a knife, fork, and cutting board, but at least you’ll be well-fed for the task ahead.
Breakfast Fried Rice
2 tablespoons toasted sesame oil
1 garlic clove, minced
1 large egg
1 cup leftover steamed white, brown, or wild rice
2 to 3 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons chopped cashews
2 tablespoons chopped green onion
How to Make It
Heat the oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute, or until fragrant.
Crack an egg in the pan and stir constantly to scramble. Add leftover rice, soy sauce, and cashews; cook for 1 minute, stirring frequently. Season to taste with salt.
Remove from heat, stir in green onion, and drizzle with Sriracha.
