Roast Turkey with Sherry Butter
- 1 whole(s) apple
- 2 stick(s) butter
- 1/4 cup(s) dry sherry
- 16 pound(s) turkey
- Preheat oven to 325. Remove giblets and nect from turkey and set aside. Rinse turkey under cold water and drain well. Season inside and out with salt and pepper. In a bowl beat butter with sherry. Rub mixture over entire surface of bird. Put apple in cavity. Roast uncovered for about 4-5 hours. Juice should run clear and meat thremometer shoud register 180. Baste bird with its own juices often during roasting. Let stand 20 minutes before carving.
