Mexican Sangria

If you order sangria below the border, you may be surprised to find it's not laden with chunks of fruit and lacks the extra liqueur kick usually expected from Spanish sangria. Mexican Sangria is light and refreshing, like a grown-up wine cooler.

  • 3 cup(s) sugar


  1. Stir together 3 cups sugar and 2 1/2
  2. cups fresh lime juice in a large punch
  3. bowl until sugar is dissolved. Stir in 12
  4. cups water, 1 (1 -liter) bottle sparkling
  5. water, and 1 (750-milliliter) bottle dry
  6. red wine. Serve over ice. Garnish
  7. with lime and kumquat slices.
