Easy Chicken and Dumplings

  • 4 chicken breasts, cooked and shredded
  • 4 tablespoon(s) Butter
  • 5-6 tablespoon(s) Flour
  • 1.5 -2 box(es) Swanson low sodium chicken broth
  • 1/4 teaspoon(s) salt
  • Fresh ground pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon(s) dried thyme
  • 2 Bay leaves
  • 1 package(s) Mary hill frozen dumpling Broken into smaller pieces
  • 1/2 cup(s) half-and-half


  1. 1. Melt butter in a large stock pot
  2. 2. Add flour and cook with butter for 1 minutes
  3. 3. Add in chicken broth,salt, pepper, thyme, bay leaves. Bring to a boil
  4. 4. Add dumplings, reduce heat to a low simmer, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes
  5. 5. Add shredded chicken and half-and-half to pot, cover , and cook additional 5 minutes
  6. 6. remove bay leaves and serve

  7. **note: chicken can be poached or baked, or can use rotisserie chicken or leftover chicken
