Two-Step Fresh Peach Pound Cake

    This was my first pound cake to ever make. I followed the directions exactly, besides using a hand mixer instead of a stand mixer. The cake turned out great! Very moist and delicious! I took it to a party and it was a big hit.

    This was an absolute disaster! We wasted half the day to only be completely disappointed in the end.I don't know how some people got this to turn out to even be edible.

    Afternoon wasted! Big disappointment! Baked for 1 hr 45 min. to find a dense texture almost hardened gel consistency.

    This peach pound cake was a complete disaster and uneatable, plus a waste of money on the ingredients. I am an experienced baker, followed the recipe exactly, and will not make the cake again.

    Made this on Saturday. I made as directed. Very easy to mix in this way and none of the flatter flies out of the stand mixer. I made one bundt cake and had enough batter left over for one loaf pan. I baked both for the same amount of time - 1 hour and 30 minutes. Both turned out well, but I had issues getting the bundt out of my pan because I didn't grease well enough. Ended up making a trifle with that cake (crumbled it) and layered it with fresh whipped cream and fresh peaches. Brought the loaf pan into work today - delish!

    Excellent. I thought I'd have to bake another the same day. The cake was easy to make and came out as promised. A very good cake for summertime.

    I'm not sure what happened wirh lilemmajulia's cake...but I have to say this is the EASIEST cake I have done...and it turned out beautifully! I took it to work and everybody just loved it and wants the recipe! I did use frozen peaches and I put it in a bundt cake pan...those were the only changes I made to the recipe! The cake was moist and the crust was exactly as the recipe described it! A true hit with my co-workers! I will be making this again...and I have a feeling it won't be long!

    Easy cake with a great velvety texture. Has potential, but 1) use flavorful peaches - mine were just so-so and the cake is bland, 2) needs to be a little bit sweeter, 3) my skewer tested done at the specified time, but it needed a few more minutes in the oven. I will try it again with my tweaks and it should be fantastic.

    Sadly, my cake turned out just like some of the others. It seemed very uncooked in some sections although I followed the recipe just as written. The taste was good for the part that was cooked. I was happy that I made this for my family and not for company this time. I am not sure that I will try it again.

    I bake a lot but have never made a pound cake. Recipe was very simple and turned out great. I'm a big fan of cupcakes so I baked in standard cupcake tins for about 15-20 mins and cakes were delicious. The recipe as is makes about 50 cupcakes.

    I am very disappointed with this cake. It took an hour of work to get it in the oven and then even though I baked it ten minutes longer than it called for, it was still gooey in the middle after cooling an hour. It has a terrible aftertaste of the schnapps. I should have known better and just left that part out. If I ever make it again I will not use schnapps and might try a hotter oven or longer cooking time. Ugh! Wasted all those good peaches from the orchard!

    This cake is so easy. Came out great. The whole family loved it. Can't see why so many had a problem. I cut the recipe in half. Since we are only three. I will make this cake again for sure.

    Made this for my best friend's birthday and was so embarrassed and dissapointed! I followed the directions exactly and the cake was so dense and tasted awful. My friend thought it was because of the large amount of eggs. Whatever, it got thrown out for the raccoons!

    I too am a VERY experienced baker. I often get requests to bake for friends for holiday events. Those that said that their cakes came out velvety smooth and light, I would like to see your pictures of the cake. If you follow the recipe as written, you will not achieve those results they descibe. I tried it twice, once with the 2 cups of butter and once using 2 sticks of butter. Both times a total disater. I feel that there was too much liquid used in the recipe as well as cooking temperature. If I try this again, I will totally alter the mixing and ingredients.

    This turned out beautifully! The texture is so light and smooth! This one will definitely go into my summer dessert rotation. Can't wait to eat a slice of it with a cup of coffee!

    This recipe was amazing! I used a Kitchen Aid stand up mixer and followed directions exactly. I made a half batch and baked in a loaf pan following the same temp and time. Heading out today to pick up some more fresh Carolina peaches and making this again ASAP.

    I am a very experienced baker - I was very disappointed in this cake. Made it exactly per directions - the bottom half came out dense. The ingredients are too expensive to try again.

    Two of my friends and I each tried the recipe. The first two made it as directed and got gummy results. I mixed it together the old fashioned way, creaming the butter and sugar, adding eggs one at a time, etc. My cake turned out too dense and gummy. It would be helpful if the Test Kitchen could give some suggestions. I think the high liquid content in fresh peaches adds too much additional liquid to the batter.

    I'm an experienced baker, and my cake was also a disaster, just like ileneseidel and lilemmajulia. If I ever make this expensive cake again, I will follow the traditional pound cake method of creaming the butter and sugar, adding eggs one at a time, alternating flour and liquids, then stirring in peaches and vanilla. Threw the whole thing away.

    This is an amazing cake. I was very hesitant after reading all of the reviews. I followed the directions exactly - layering the ingredients in the mixer in the specified order and only mixing for as long as directed. I didn't have any milk so I used half & half. The cake is moist and delicious. It cooked evenly all the way through after baking for 1.5 hours. A fantastic, and easy cake!

    Great recipe, but good luck mixing this with anything but a stand mixer. I added 1/4 more Schnapps and made it a full 3 cups of peaches. Covering it with sugar glaze enhanced with peach flavoring.

    I followed directions to the letter the cake turned out heavy and almost looked like the butter settled in the middle of the cake looking like a doughy consistency. Very disappointing.
