Tomato Sauce

Yield Makes 1 1/2 cups

Ingredients

  • 1/2 small onion, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 (14 1/2-ounce) can diced tomatoes with basil, garlic, and oregano
  • 1/4 cup red wine
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground red pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh basil

How to Make It

  1. Sauté onion and garlic in hot oil over medium heat 5 to 7 minutes or until tender. Add tomatoes, wine, and red pepper; simmer 20 minutes or until thoroughly heated. Add salt and basil.
