Toasted Tortilla Strips

Ingredients

4 (5- to 6-inch) corn tortillas

Preparation

1. Preheat oven to 400°. Cut tortillas into 1/4-inch strips. Toss strips onto an ungreased baking sheet, but do not spread into 1 layer.

2. Toast strips at 400° on middle oven shelf 5 minutes. Toss well, return to oven, and toast about 5 minutes more until crisp and lightly browned. Cool before using.

Note: If making ahead, store cooled strips in an airtight container.
